FAQs

Shipping & Orders

How long will it take to receive my order?

Orders generally take 1 - 3 business days to be processed & shipped. Standard shipping is 3 - 7 days, though we offer both 2-day and overnight shipping for an additional cost. Please note that shipping carriers may still be experiencing COVID-related delays. Please note that in the summer months we only ship on Monday and Tuesday to try to reduce the chance of the candles melting on shipping trucks.

What do I do if I receive a broken candle?

All of our products are carefully inspected before they are shipped, and our boxes are designed to be very durable; however, as much care as we take, sometimes things still go wrong. If your candle arrives damaged please contact our customer service team via our contact form on the website. Include your name and order number, as well as a description of the damage. Please be sure to take a photo of the broken candle as we will need that in order to process your exchange.

How do I check the status/shipping information of my order

If you have an account, you can login and view your order from there. If not, you will receive tracking information via email once your order has left our factory. Please allow 24 hours for the tracking information to update.

What do I do if I need to make a change to my order?

Please reach out via our contact form on the website as soon as possible. While we cannot guarantee we will be able to make any adjustments, we will be happy to try. It's important to note that we firmly believe everyone needs quality time with friends and family, and for that reason our team is off on the weekends. If you reach out to us after 5:00pm EST on Friday, we will be in touch when we return on Monday.

Can I send my order as a gift?

You sure can (and you should)! Who wouldn't want an ah-mazing Moxie & Grace candle? Our gift worthy packaging makes it super simple, too. Just be sure to click the “this is a gift” box during checkout.

Candle Questions & Care

What ingredients are used in your candles?

Wax: Our luxurious, US-made, vegan wax blend is made of natural apricot and coconut waxes that are gluten-free, toxin-free, paraben-free, phthalate-free, and come from renewable sources. The entire blend utilizes only FDA approved waxes. This luxurious Coco Apricot Crème contains a minuscule amount of highly refined food-grade paraffin wax. This is included because it has been found to enhance the performance and give an excellent hot throw. But don't worry!! Scientific studies have proven highly refined food-grade paraffin wax to burn just as cleanly as other all natural waxes. And the fact that it is highly refined food-grade puts it in the all natural category ensuring this wax is completely clean burning.

Wicks: Our US-made, hand-crafted wooden wicks are an eco-friendly option to the traditional cotton wick. They are made in the US from clean-burning, FSC certified wood. As an added bonus, there is no stinky smell when you blow them out like you get with cotton wicks.

Fragrance: And, for the most important part — our fragrances! It's important to understand that the only fragrances that are completely natural are essential oils; however, these alone do not work well for candle making. Essential oils have a poor throw, degrade in heat, and don’t blend well with wax. So, since we can't use pure essential oils alone, we use the next best option; the cleanest fragrances available on the market!

Our fragrances are made in the USA and derived from essential oils. They exclude ALL ingredients found on the California Proposition 65 List. This list includes naturally occurring and synthetic chemicals like phthalates, carcinogens, and mutagens, which are known to cause cancer, birth defects, and/or other reproductive harm.

From wax to wick, a Moxie & Grace candle is sure to offer you the familiar joy of aromatherapy with zero guilt.

Are your candles manufactured in the USA?

Yup! All Moxie & Grace candles are hand-poured in Nicholasville, Kentucky.

Will your candle produce soot or smoke?

If your candle is smoking then your wick is too large. You should always trim your wick to ⅛” each time you burn. If the flame still seems too large/you are getting some smoke, trim it back so no black is showing. Drafts can also cause soot on the vessel since the moving air disturbs the flame leading to an uneven burn. Keeping the candle away from drafts/fans/windows will reduce this. However, it is important to remember that since you are burning real, sustainable wood, tiny black speckles in your wax and on your vessel are also totally normal. Gently pinch your (cooled!) wick with a tissue and wipe the top of your wax and those speckles will disappear like magic. The same works for your vessel. Gently wipe with a tissue and those speckles will be gone.

Please be sure to always follow the instructions on the warning label found on the bottom of the candle anytime you light it.

How long will my candle last?

By following our tips & tricks you will get the most life out of your candle. Our 12 oz vessels will give you 40+ hours and our 5 oz pint size Black Label tins will give you 20+ hours.

Are your candles super fragrant?

Since fragrance is the most costly part of a candle, many candle makers only use around 8% fragrance load when pouring their candles. At Moxie & Grace we are determined to provide the best candle out there, and for that reason all our candles are poured using the maximum fragrance load our wax can hold, giving you the best experience possible. Due to the nature of the different scents, some are stronger and some are lighter, but they are ALL fabulous!

There is still wax at the bottom of my vessel but it won't relight?

For safety reasons, our candles will self-extinguish when they get to the end of their life. Due to the wick clip you will always be left with some wax at the bottom. Simply place your cooled candle in the freezer, once the wax freezes you can use a butter knife to pop out the wax and re-purpose the vessel.

Can I microwave my candle to melt the remaining wax?

NO! There is a metal clip holding your wick in place. Metal + microwave = bad!

Why does my candle have wax on the side of the glass?

You should always let a candle burn until the top layer of wax is completely melted across the top of the vessel.  This is especially important on the initial burn.  Keep in mind that this could take a couple of hours, depending on what size candle you are burning, so be sure you have the time before lighting your candle. Don't forget to keep your candle away from drafts or moving air - it disturbs the flame, leading to an uneven burn.
